Normal knee anatomy. The menisci are two rubbery disks that help cushion the knee joint.
Treatment
The treatment will depend on many factors, age, symptoms, activity level,the type, size, and location of the tear.
Nonsurgical Treatment
RICE. The RICE protocol is effective for most sports-related injuries. RICE stands for Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation.
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). .
Surgical Treatment
If your symptoms persist with nonsurgical treatment.
Partial meniscectomy. In this procedure, the damaged meniscus tissue is trimmed away.
Meniscus repair.
